Profile
Access Structures Inc. (ASI) is a contract manufacturer specializing in high volume, precision catheter braiding and catheter manufacturing for neurovascular and cardiovascular medical device OEMs. Operating under an ISO 13485-certified Quality Management System, ASI supports device programs from prototype development through scalable production, offering braided catheter shafts, catheter tipping and lamination, marker band integration, and laser welding services. Located in Temecula, California, ASI partners with medical device companies that need a manufacturing partner capable of holding tight pic density and diameter tolerances on complex, minimally invasive catheter designs. Our engineering-driven approach reduces technical risk and shortens development timelines for OEMs bringing new catheter technologies to market.

Medical Catheter Braiding Services
ASI specializes in manufacturing discrete length, variable pic density, and reel-to-reel medical braiding for catheter shafts used in neurovascular and cardiovascular applications. Our braiding processes are optimized for application-specific requirements including torque response, flexibility, and kink resistance, and are built to demanding pic density and diameter tolerances. ASI excels at high volume production and can offer discrete lengths off-mandrel.
Catheter Manufacturing from Prototype to Production
Beyond braiding, ASI provides in-house catheter manufacturing services including laminating, tipping, and marker band integration. Our processes support ultra-thin wall construction and complex catheter geometries, including steerable catheter technologies used in neurovascular and cardiovascular procedures. This in-house capability allows OEMs to work with a single manufacturing partner across multiple stages of catheter shaft and assembly production, reducing handoffs and supporting faster development timelines.Engineering and Design for Manufacturability
ASI’s engineering team supports catheter device programs with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), rapid prototyping, and process development. We build custom tooling, fixtures, and validation methods so that manufacturing processes are repeatable as programs scale. This collaborative engineering support helps OEMs reduce technical risk from early concept work through commercialization, working alongside customer engineering teams to solve complex catheter manufacturing challenges.Laser Welding for Catheter Components
ASI offers high-precision laser welding for catheter components and other medical device assemblies requiring complex geometries and advanced alloys. Our laser welding process development focuses on optimizing fusion, minimizing heat-affected zones, and maximizing weld strength and repeatability, supporting the tight tolerances required in minimally invasive catheter-based devices.ISO 13485 Quality Management System
ASI operates under an ISO 13485-certified Quality Management System with full traceability and audit-ready documentation. Our quality team supports customer and regulatory audits and maintains process controls appropriate for Class II and Class III catheter-based devices. Quality is built into every stage of our braiding and catheter manufacturing processes, from incoming material controls through final inspection.Partnering with Medical Device OEMs
ASI is trusted by medical device industry leaders including Medtronic, and has supported development and manufacturing programs for neurovascular and cardiovascular catheter technologies. Founded by Howard P. Graham, P.E., a licensed Professional Engineer with nearly 30 years designing and scaling catheter technologies for companies including Guidant, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic, ASI combines engineering leadership with hands-on manufacturing experience.
