We work with an extensively vetted network of mills to ensure that each alloy complies with the required specifications and mechanical requirements. These high quality, medical grade alloys serve as the basis for our centerless ground bar stock. We believe that your material should work for you, not against you. That’s why at Boston Centerless, we deliver high quality precision bar stock that makes machining simple. Led by the concept of Skilled Material, we straighten bar stock to within 0.003” per ft., grind diameters within 0.0001” of tolerance, and roundness to within 0.000020”. This degree of precision facilitates smooth feeding for faster and more accurate machining, which translates to higher uptime along with reduced rework and scrap.

AccuRod® Precision Ground Bar Stock

Our bar stock is shaped to each customer’s specified dimensions using a process called centerless grinding. Compared to traditional machining, centerless grinding allows us to process large volumes of bar stock, spend less time on material prep, and achieve the industry’s tightest tolerances. Centerless grinding consistently produces bar stock that is unmatched in its roundness, straightness, and diameter throughout its length. This process also allows us to customize surface finish to as fine as 8Ra in full lengths. For its unmatched precision, we call this material AccuRod®.

AccuBlank™ Pre-Cut Stock Metal Blanks

Accompanying AccuRod® is AccuBlank™, our pre-cut material blanking service. These rods are first cut to the customer’s desired length, and are then handled using the same centerless grinding process. The result is a full batch of medical material blanks that are ready to be machined straight out of the box with zero additional preparation.

Boston Centerless shines by delivering both bar stock products and value-added services. These additional services help our customers minimize PO management and lead times, while maximizing the value they receive from us. Medical Alloy Testing & Validation

As an added defense against material defects, Boston Centerless operates an in-house material testing & validation laboratory. In this lab, we perform nondestructive testing methods to detect surface-level and internal defects. This facility is Nadcap accredited for NonDestructive Testing methods including ultrasonic testing, eddy current testing, and x-ray fluorescence alloy verification (XRF).

A reliable supply of material is critical to keep medical manufacturing operations in motion. However, keeping inventory on hand can incur additional costs.
