As the central interface between man and machine, the display of a medical monitor is particularly important. The selection of ideal components is by no means trivial. In addition to strict quality standards for medical products, functional aspects such as the safe operability of systems and performance requirements also play a decisive role. DATA MODUL offers customized solutions for the medical sector and manufactures all products in-house in compliance with the highest quality standards in accordance with the ISO 13485:2016 medical standard.

The quality of the materials to be used influences the final quality of the customer’s end product. DATA MODUL is known worldwide as a glass specialist and uses specially prepared cover glass according to the specifications and wishes of the client, which achieve reduced surface contamination by viruses and bacteria, for example, through individually created properties. The sealing of the cover glass also plays a decisive role at this point – in order to achieve maximum sterility, a perfect seal between the cover glasses and the monitor housing must be guaranteed. DATA MODUL meets this challenge with a fully automated process – gap filling – whereby the production-related gap is securely closed and made impermeable to bacteria, dirt and liquids.

Hygienic applications as the most important production goal

Thanks to DATA MODUL’s many years of expertise, customers receive not only specially treated cover glass but also easy-to-clean materials and surface treatments, adapted to their needs and requirements, to enable cleaning without impairment. For example, applications can be easily cleaned with harsh cleaning agents, which are used especially in the medical sector to eliminate germs, and thus kept sterile. In addition, Data Modul also offers special solutions such as IP, dust and splash water protection, glare protection and finger pressure protection.

Contactless input methods for intuitive interaction with applications

In order to ensure a hygienic environment, touch-free input methods play a major role in medical and healthcare applications when interacting with displays. As experts in the field of touch operating options, DATA MODUL offers diverse possibilities for interacting with but also without direct contact with the display. Non-contact input methods to avoid possible contamination include, for example, the use of an input pen that enables the triggering of high-precision touch events. System control via gesture movement is another technology that can be implemented by DATA MODUL. The user can operate the display by wiping or rotating the screen – either a camera-based or capacitive controlled system is used here. Another technology is based on voice control – an integrated microphone allows the user to operate the device intuitively and completely contact-free.
