Our approach to solving your design & development challenges:
We work to transform your design, development & engineering challenges into commercially successful products. Our approach is flexible and designed to make life easier for you and your team. If you are looking for more resource or expertise to quickly pick up a project, solve challenging technical problems or to create a completely new device – then we are here for you. Whether delivering a full device development project or providing specific design tasks, we help speed up your projects and reduce risk, whilst ensuring full compliance with US, EU and UK regulatory requirements. We can fully control and manage projects for you through our own ISO:13485 or ISO:9001 QMS or, work with your own project managers, under your own QMS. Either way, we manage and control our deliverables to suit your own development plan and ensure projects progress swiftly to meet the agreed project milestones. Our approach is flexible so you can enter or leave the process at any point to suit your project needs.Project manager and design engineer planning a medical device project with a development plan and development workflow with project milestones and deliverables under QMS on screen

High quality, high value, efficient and adaptable device development partners to our global client base
Founded in 1995, HD has grown from a small engineering team with a focus in aerospace and test rigs, to a larger device development team encompassing a diverse background from highly regulated sectors. Whilst we are proud of our past work and experiences, we now focus predominantly on medical device development and other highly regulated industries. Since winning our first medical device project in 2012, we have continued to grow our work and skillset in this area, focusing initially on auto-injector and drug delivery platforms. These days, we work across several device and healthcare sectors including respiratory, parenteral, stoma care, IVD’s, patient handling and many others. This work since 2012, has led to HD being named on over 35 global patents and earned us a reputation of being a high quality, high value, and adaptable development partner to our clients.Medical device development engineers interacting with blood sampling device prototypes with a range of CAD model, IFU, manufacturing drawings and packaging designs on display

The importance of Human Factors Engineering (HFE) for Medical Device Development
When it comes to the design of medical devices, the stakes are high – when errors occur, they can lead to life-changing injuries and even death. Human Factors Engineering (HFE), or usability engineering, focuses on the interactions between people and devices and ultimately, aims to enhance patient safety by minimising use-related hazards…
