Proterial Cable America High Performance Medical Solutions (PCA HPMS) has spent over 20 years in the medical extrusion and medical cable OEM value stream. Based out of Ashaway, RI, we are dedicated to providing custom medical tubing and cable solutions for surgical, catheter, endoscopy, and ultrasound markets.   

Leader in Fine Wire Medical Cables 

We offer some of the most advanced and customized products on the market, and our fine wire is a prime example. Capable of producing a wire thinner than a human hair, our complex cables use multiple materials including discrete wire, micro-coaxial, twinaxials, and twisted pairs. Our range of standard sizes is unparalleled, with options as small as a fine wire drawn down to 58AWG to create a 50AWG conductor (7/58, 0.10 mm diameter). This level of precision and attention to detail is essential for highly specialized and complex cables. In addition to the current wire and cable we can produce, we are always researching and developing the next product so we will be ready for the next necessity of the field. 

Micro-Coaxial Cables

Used in a wide variety of precision medical devices as well as cabling, micro-coaxial cable is ideal for limited space applications. We offer micro-coaxial cable that is incredibly sensitive, while maintaining reliability, capacitance, and an outstanding signal. PCA HPMS utilizes a proprietary high-strength alloy that ensures our cable is top-of-the-line. Lightweight with a micro diameter and featuring impressive heat resistance and mechanical strength, our micro-coaxial cable is offered in sizes from 32-50 AWG with silver-plated or tinned copper alloys rated to +200 degrees Celsius.

We have both high capacitance and low capacitance micro-coaxial cables at PCA HPMS. Our high capacitance copper alloy micro-coaxial cable comes in wire gauges ranging from 36-50 AWG. We offer our low-capacitance cable in 38 AWG and 48 AWG. These are 70, 75, and 85 Ohm impedance cables.

PC also has custom solid conductor micro-coaxial cable that includes everything standard coaxial cables do while incorporating a smaller diameter, higher carrying capacity, and lower loss in sizes 40-50 AWG.

At the heart of our micro-coaxial cable line, PCA HPMS offers a single lead wire with extremely thin wall PFA made from our standard alloy materials.

Medical Twisted Pairs

PCA HPMS has twisted pairs available for use where noise interference need to be reduced and ideal in lines needing less than 2-4 Gbps. We also have twinaxials which perform well with higher signals, especially 5 Gbps+. Twinaxials are ideal for higher transmission and higher bandwidth purposes.

We can offer a twisted quad cable at 48 AWG minimum, solid conductor wire in a pair at 48 AWG minimum or a quad at 46 AWG minimum. We also have custom designs available.

Bundled Cable

PCA HPMS offers hybrid cable bundles that can include various coaxial or twinaxial cables, data cables, tubes, fiber optic cables, and power wires. You can rely on custom PCA HPMS bundles for precise extrusion, cabling accuracy, and advanced multi-layered cable capabilities. Alongside standard data and power copper wiring, we also bundle tubing for air or fluidics and specialty optical fiber for data transmission.

Cables for Specific Use

PCA HPMS is a leader in cable manufacturing, and we are known for our custom options. For ultrasound cables we can bundle micro-coaxials of different styles and numbers depending on what the customer requests. We can change the shield configuration, flexibility requirements, sheath type, and color. In short, we offer custom design upon request.

We make medical cables that can be used in ultrasound probe apparatus but also other equipment like endoscopes for gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urinary applications, as well as ablation, mapping, intracardiac echocardiography (ICE), and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) catheter applications. We can make custom cable suitably designed for the application or equipment.

HPMS offers micro cable and assemblies for ultrasound, catheter and endoscopy. Whether you project needs a small batch of custom assemblies or larger volume, have the expertise and resources to get the job done right based on your design. We can provide assemblies for both Distal and Proximal sections of your device with both in-line and vertical soldering, fine pitch terminations to 100 micron pitch and a technology roadmap for cable to 56 AWG and terminations to a 50 micron pitch.
