Swiss Manufacturer of Turned Micro Parts for Medical Devices
POLYDEC is a Swiss manufacturer specialised in micro turning precision components for medical devices. They produce miniature parts in all types of materials, including carbon steels, stainless steels, titanium, copper alloys and (semi)precious metals. By machining extremely small parts with diameters from 0.05 mm to 6 mm, POLYDEC clearly stands out from the crowd. This specificity is exemplified by the fact that more than 90% of the turned micro parts produced have a diameter below Ø 2 mm.
Micro Manufacturing of High-Precision Components
Located in the Jura Arc of Switzerland, a region considered as being the birthplace of Swiss turning, POLYDEC has been manufacturing high-precision components for the watchmaking, automotive, electronics and medical industries for nearly 40 years.
By combining a machine park comprising multi-axis CNC sliding headstock lathes and Escomatic coil turning machines, POLYDEC offers a wide range of high-precision components from small production runs of complex-shaped micro parts to large volumes of tiny parts with relatively simple design.
Success Stories of Turned Micro Parts in a Wide Variety of Medical Applications
POLYDEC has successfully convinced a number of medical device manufacturers around the world of its ability to meet the extremely demanding requirements of this field. Typically, POLYDEC’s turned micro parts are integrated in pacemakers, catheters, endoscopes, surgical instruments, heart failure monitoring implants, cerebral fluid control valves, eye treatment devices, biopsy, and many more.
Each project is unique and whatever the complexity, POLYDEC is the micro-turning expert who will meet the challenge.
Expertise and Solutions Which Go Beyond Turned Micro Parts
Further complementary operations and additional treatments are often carried out to complete the finishing of the turned micro parts. The aim is to provide innovative solutions and to offer as many operations and services as possible to the customers such as polishing and micro-polishing, as well as finishing operations. Upon request, they also offer heat and galvanic treatments, which they outsource to recognised specialist partners.
“More Than Just Small” Is Not Only a Slogan
POLYDEC’s mission is more than just producing turned small parts.
Monitoring technological advances is part of the daily work: POLYDEC has set up an R&D department comprising a multi-disciplinary team in order to develop its own equipment which allows optimised post-turning processes. In some instances, operations such as measurements and final checks are carried out on homemade automated equipment, thus securing a zero-default policy (0 ppm).
Certified and Trusted Supplier of Turned Micro Parts
POLYDEC focuses on customer satisfaction.
Over the years, POLYDEC has implemented an “Integrated Management System” (IMS) based on five certifications: ISO 9001 (quality management), IATF 16949 (automotive industry), ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 45001 (occupational health & safety) and ISO 13485 (medical devices). These have become complete and indispensable management tools for daily operations in the production of turned micro parts and components.
Nearly 40 Years of Experience in Swiss Precision Turned Parts and Micro-Turning
Established in 1985, POLYDEC is a privately held manufacturer of Swiss precision turned micro parts with 80 employees and has produced 8 billion components to date. All activities are gathered under one roof, fostering reactiveness and consistency. A modern production area of 6’000 m2 accommodates an impressive range of machines and the various ancillary departments, organised according to the most up-to-date Lean Manufacturing models. This is the ideal setting to develop a long-term relationship with a strategic partner.
Micro Parts for Major Achievements
Miniaturisation opens new horizons to engineers, particularly when it comes to the development of non-invasive devices or to the integration of microsystems. Size should not be a limitation. Micro-parts often make the difference in major achievements.
