Each machine starts with an initial concept drawing, which is then developed until the client is happy to move to the build stage. Medical Device Assembly

Having built many automated medical device assembly systems over the years we understand the GAMP and FDA validation requirements to which our medical device assembly automation equipment customers must comply. We have been automating the assembly and testing of multiple part medical devices since 1984, for multinational pharma companies for devices such as syringes, leurs, inhalers, and injection devices amongst many more, with machine output speeds of between 40 and 200 parts per minute.

Automating the Fill and Finish Process

In the medical industry, fill and finish is the process of filling vials with vaccine and finishing the process of packaging the medicine for distribution. Many vaccine manufacturers use third parties to fill and finish their vaccines. The fill/finish process is a common bottleneck in the manufacturing and deployment of vaccines. SP Automation and Robotics have worked with many clients to resolve this issue.

Automated Medical Device Test & Inspection

From quality testing to product verification an array of tests have to be done before a product can enter the supply chain. Industrial vision systems are key to automated product testing and inspection to ensure high quality across the medical device industry. From 1D and 2D code verification used for serialisation to application specific 2D and 3D quality checks to uncover defects. Also including a user interface highlights live results as each test occurs.

Semi-Automation within the Medical Device Industry

Some medical device manufacturing or assembly processes work best using semi production processes, with little automation needed. Usually, products with low or uncertain production quantities because the production mix has low predictability. As the product mix becomes more predictable, with an increased demand, full automated production is the right choice when it helps medical device manufacturers increase process reliability and cut costs to recoup the investment in automation.

Collaborative Robots in the Medical Device Industry

SP Automation & Robotics have been incorporating Collaborative Robots (cobots) into our bespoke automated machine for many years. Cobots can be used individually or collaboratively with other equipment. Their uses include but not limited to filling, capping, transporting, and packing. They are extremely flexible and work with a range of end of arm tooling such as gripper and vacuums which make them a great piece of equipment for use within the medical device industry.
