Custom Thermoforming for Medical Packaging
For over 25 years, TEQ has been dedicated to being the leader of quality thermoform manufacturing. With recent domestic and global expansion, TEQ’s continuous innovation, design capability, and process control gives the company the ability to serve customers better than anyone else.
TEQ is uniquely positioned to help medical device manufacturers meet demanding testing and validation requirements and reduce their time to market by avoiding costly redesign efforts and delays. In addition, TEQ provides value added products like heat seal machines, engineering services, and flexible packaging.
TEQ manufactures medical and retail packaging, along with specialty thermoformed products. TEQ is equipped with 100,000 and 10,000 clean room environments, ISO 11607 Compliance, ISO 13485 Medical Device Quality Certification, and cGMP compliant facilities.
When it comes to developing a new project, it’s important to work with a company with a similar industry background and who understands what landmarks need to be hit according the industry’s quality standards. And at TEQ, our customers are always confident in knowing we have traceability to know exactly where the material for the project came from, what the resin of the material is made out of, and the quality of the facility where the project being produced.
TEQ can also be a local source in more places than just the US. We pride ourselves in the ability to understand customer requests and work to develop their product or project locally with our three facilities in the Midwest. And the same can be said for our manufacturing locations in the UK and Poland as well. We will work diligently to make sure a customer’s project is executed expertly and in the location that makes the most sense for them.
TEQ’s sustainable solution to a global packaging challenge
At TEQ, when we see a need in the market, we work hard to develop a cost-effective solution. But we don’t stop there. We make sure our customers can use it.
In 2011, when the Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC) released their design guidelines for optimal hospital recycling they also highlighted the fact that hospitals produce over 5.9M tons of waste each year with very little being recycled, we knew we could do something to help.
The challenge was clear – most sterile barrier solutions consists of more than one material, and medical staff simply don’t have time to separate lids and trays for recycling.
In response to this issue, we developed TEQethylene™(TEQe™), a mono-polymer, recyclable medical packaging solution that uses proprietary blend of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) in combination with adhesive coated Tyvek®, a breathable HDPE thermoplastic lidding developed by DuPont™.
TEQethylene has also proven to be a cost effective option for medical packaging—with resin cost significantly below that for PETG, part cost well below that for PETG and HIPS and a yield far greater than PETG or HIPS.
This new blend of HDPE not only has less environmental impact than other materials, but also offers many additional benefits over conventional HDPE such as clarity and durability. Plus, customers that move from using a material like PETG or HIPS to TEQethylene can save up to 35% on production costs.
