The company is a leading manufacturer of knee implants for use in knee replacement procedures, hip implants for the reconstruction of hip joints, and trauma and extremities products such as internal and external devices for use in stabilizing severe fractures and correcting deformities. Also, it provides sports medicine joint repair products to surgeons, such as instruments, technologies, and implants needed to perform minimally invasive surgeries of the joints, including soft tissue injury repair and the treatment of degenerative conditions of the knee, hip, and shoulder, as well as meniscal repair surgery.

Additionally, the company offers arthroscopic enabling technologies. These are comprised of fluid management equipment for surgical access use, high definition cameras, digital image capture technologies, scopes, light sources, as well as monitors to assist with visualization inside the joints, radio frequency, electromechanical and mechanical tissue resection products, and hand-held instruments for removing damaged tissue. Smith & nephew also manufacture ear, nose, and throat solutions.

Orthopedics, Endoscopy, and Advanced Wound Management are the company’s three main segments. Orthopedic devices include hip, knee, and shoulder replacement joints, as well as ancillary products, such as bone cement and mixing systems used in cemented reconstruction surgery. In addition to being uncemented, this broach only system provides excellent fit and stability in all types of bone and offers more ROM (range of motion). The ANTHOLOGY system offers optimal stem geometry and the widest range of sizes to accommodate all types of femur. In combination with the ANTHOLOGY neck design and R3 Acetabular portfolio, the surgeon has the ability to restore the patient’s biomechanics and natural range of motion.

Armed with sophisticated 3CMOS technology, images are captured in ultra-high definition, maintaining color quality and fidelity. Utilizing exclusive imaging and light processing technology, S+N converts images digitally while maintaining 4K resolution and colour accuracy. In resecting soft tissue and bone, the DYONICS POWER II Control System provides powerful and precise control. In order to display shaver speed and resection mode information on the surgical display, the wireless module communicates with the LENS 4K Surgical Imaging System.
