Innovation from STÜKEN MEDICAL: Deep-drawn standard titanium housings for the packaging of dental implants - MD&M West 2025

14 January 2025

Stüken Medical Titanium Dental Implant PackagingRinteln, January 14th, 2025 – Millions of people worldwide rely on dental prostheses with fixed implants. The screws used are made of titanium due to its good biocompatibi-lity, and they are often packaged in titanium to ensure cleanliness. Until now, the production of this packaging has been complex – turned parts consume a lot of material and production capacity. Now there is a more economical solution: Deep-drawn standard titanium housings for dental implants by STÜKEN MEDICAL ensure savings in costs, time, production capacity, and carbon footprint.

Unfortunately, teeth do not always last a lifetime. Our high-sugar diet encourages bacteria and leads to tooth decay and periodontal disease. At some point, the dentist may advise dental implants. To avoid complications, a material that is very well tolerated by the human body is used for the base of the artificial tooth anchored in the jaw: Titanium. The implants are usually manufactured as a turned part. The packaging of the titanium implant is also often a complex turned part. This is expensive, consumes a lot of valuable material and may even take up valuable in-house production capacity.

Through research and development, STÜKEN MEDICAL has succeeded in developing an optimized process with which titanium can be deep-drawn over a large number of stations. High-precision titanium components with complex geometries can now be produced using the efficient, fast and resource-saving deep-drawing technology. Customers benefit from remarkable cost savings and can order the implant retainer from stock.

These arguments also convinced a global manufacturer of titanium implants, who uses titanium packaging for safety reasons. “Previously, our customer produced this packaging himself, as turned parts,” explains Andreas Hellmann, Sales Manager at STÜKEN MEDICAL. “However, this meant a lot of expensive material and valuable time on the machines, which could be better used for the production of implants. Together we developed the packaging as a modular assembly consisting of two deep-drawn components,” reports Hellmann. STÜKEN MEDICAL offers a variety of sizes for different lengths and diameters of implants, because every person and every tooth is different. The advantages at a glance:

  • Economical solution for implant retainers made of grade 1 titanium.
  • Various dimensions available for different implant lengths and diameters.
  • Optimum protection for the implant.
  • Customers save costs, time, and production capacity.
  • Option for assembly and packaging in Class 7 cleanroom – GMP Class C.
  • Sustainable solution that reduces the carbon footprint by up to 70% compared to conventional products.
  • Automated production certified according to ISO 13485.

STÜKEN MEDICAL will be offering the opportunity to discuss innovations, new applications, and projects directly with their specialists at the MD&M West trade show in Anaheim, CA, from February 4th to 6th, 2025. You will find the company at booth 1492.
