Intuitive Surpasses 20 Million Patients Treated Worldwide Using da Vinci Systems

Intuitive has reported that surgeons using da Vinci surgical systems have now treated more than 20 million patients worldwide.

This milestone was achieved by the end of 2025, driven in part by over 3.1 million da Vinci procedures completed in the past year alone. The accomplishment highlights the ongoing adoption of Intuitive’s technology and the growing access patients have to minimally invasive surgical care.

“This achievement is a direct result of the dedication of surgeons and care teams around the globe to provide the best possible care for their patients,” said Intuitive chief executive officer Dave Rosa. “It underscores our belief in a future of care that is less invasive and profoundly better. For 30 years, we’ve worked toward that vision and we look forward to continuing our journey to help improve outcomes for patients everywhere.”

Leveraging insights gained from 20 million real-world procedures, Intuitive is well positioned to convert clinical experience into advances in technology, training, and system design. These efforts support ongoing innovation while helping healthcare systems enhance outcomes, reduce variability, and deliver safe, high-quality care.

Innovation Across Platforms and Ecosystems

Intuitive’s commitment to innovation is evident across its portfolio of robotic-assisted platforms and the ecosystems that support them. Each is built to help physicians and hospital teams improve clinical outcomes, elevate patient and care team experiences, reduce overall costs of care, and broaden access to high-quality, minimally invasive treatment:

  • da Vinci 5, the company’s newest system, offers more than 10,000 times the computing power of the da Vinci Xi, enabling new hardware and software capabilities designed to further advance patient care.

  • da Vinci Single Port (SP) continues to broaden its global indications, allowing a wider range of procedures to be performed through a single incision.

  • Ion, Intuitive’s robotic-assisted bronchoscopy platform, supported more than 140,000 lung biopsies performed by physicians in 2025, with evidence suggesting its use may help patients with suspected lung cancer receive earlier diagnoses.

These platforms are backed by a comprehensive ecosystem that includes advanced training, program optimization, and ongoing collaboration, helping hospitals and care teams consistently deliver safe, high-quality, minimally invasive care.

“While we are proud of what has been accomplished to date, we are focused on the future because we believe the opportunity to impact the lives of more patients is significant,” added Rosa.
