ThermoFab Unveils New Facility in Mexico

ThermoFab Expands with New Mexicali Facility to Drive Near-Shoring and Global Growth.

ThermoFab, a trusted leader in thermoforming and injection molding of heavy-gauge plastic enclosures and single-use components for medical devices and other highly regulated industries, is excited to announce the opening of its new facility in Mexicali, Mexico. Scheduled for mid-2025, this strategic expansion supports increasing demand for near-shore manufacturing solutions and enhances ThermoFab’s ability to deliver efficient, high-quality solutions for diverse applications.

Situated in Mexico’s vibrant medical device hub, the 50,000-square-foot facility will complement ThermoFab’s U.S. operations by offering comprehensive plastic enclosure production under one roof. The Mexicali site will provide advanced services such as:

  • Vacuum and Pressure Thermoforming

  • Injection Molding (up to 900T)

  • Reaction Injection Molding (RIM)

  • CNC Plastic Machining for Prototypes

  • Finishing, Paint, and Pad Printing

  • Complete Assembly Lines

  • In-House Tool Maintenance

Additionally, ThermoFab is enhancing its Massachusetts facility with two new 3D printers, enabling the rapid production of thermoformed tooling and large-scale prototypes up to 4 feet. These upgrades will improve prototyping capabilities and accelerate product development for customers.

“This new facility is a key milestone in our journey to become the world’s leading solution provider for heavy gauge plastic enclosures,” said Mark Rauenzahn, CEO of ThermoFab. “By expanding our capabilities and establishing a presence in Mexicali, we are not only supporting customers looking for near-shore supply chain options but also positioning ourselves to meet growing market demands in medical devices and beyond.”

To streamline the transfer of mold tooling from China or other global locations, ThermoFab offers a dedicated tooling transfer program. This service ensures a seamless transition to the Mexicali facility, reducing logistics complexities and production costs.

ThermoFab’s Mexicali facility is expected to achieve ISO 13485:2016 certification by Q2 2025, matching the high standards of its Shirley, MA site. This certification underscores ThermoFab’s commitment to delivering superior quality for medical devices and other critical applications.

With the launch of the Mexicali facility, ThermoFab is poised to provide enhanced value to its global customers, offering advanced manufacturing capabilities and streamlined supply chain solutions. This expansion reflects ThermoFab’s dedication to innovation, quality, and meeting the evolving needs of its industry partners.
