SSM Health and Siemens Healthineers announce new partnership
SSM Health and Siemens Healthineers have recently announced a new strategic partnership agreement spanning a decade, aimed at expanding healthcare access of the highest quality and nurturing the upcoming generation of healthcare professionals. This collaboration represents the largest geographic strategic partnership established by Siemens Healthineers thus far.
SSM Health functions as an all-encompassing healthcare delivery system, catering to the comprehensive health requisites of Midwest communities through a value-oriented care framework. Siemens Healthineers, renowned for its groundbreaking medical technology, will provide SSM Health with access to cutting-edge innovations and exemplary practices in diagnostic imaging, state-of-the-art technology, and software, alongside educational resources and on-site support.
Unifying their commitment to clinical and operational excellence, the partners will further elevate the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of diagnostic and imaging services across SSM Health’s expansive four-state service region encompassing Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. To advance health equity, both entities will also invest collaboratively in initiatives to extend early detection and management of chronic ailments for underserved and vulnerable populations in SSM Health’s diverse urban and rural communities.
Additionally, SSM Health is expanding its already robust association with Varian, a subsidiary of Siemens Healthineers, by incorporating a customized array of offerings from Varian’s Advanced Oncology Solutions (AOS) portfolio. These tailored solutions are geared towards enabling SSM Health to seamlessly integrate oncology services, optimize diagnostic imaging technology and equipment usage, enhance clinical and operational efficiency, and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
“At SSM Health, we are working to ensure all people have access to high-quality, compassionate, and affordable care, but we can’t do this alone,” said Jeremy Fotheringham, regional president, SSM Health. “Siemens Healthineers shares our deep-rooted commitment to innovation, quality, and value. We are thrilled to partner with them in our mission to transform health care delivery and address the health equity gap in our communities.”
Furthermore, the partnership will address the pressing shortage of radiologic technologists by initiating local imaging apprenticeship programs, done in conjunction with community partners. The first such initiative will be in collaboration with The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, aimed at expanding employment avenues, offering training, and nurturing mentorship for local youth as part of the Urban League’s Save Our Sons & Save Our Sisters program.
“Our partnership with SSM Health will serve the local communities, taking into account the social and environmental determinants that influence patient health in support of long-term well-being,” said David Pacitti, president and head of the Americas, Siemens Healthineers. “This relationship underscores our mutual commitment to providing quality care and making a positive impact in the lives of everyone, everywhere.” Finally, the collaboration has the potential to supplement SSM Health’s efforts in environmental sustainability by calling on the expertise of Siemens in advanced smart building technology and energy management to further reduce SSM Health’s carbon footprint.
