Stryker Launches TPX HD Small Bone Power Tool for Complex Orthopaedic Procedures

Life Spine has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its VersaLift expandable interbody system, a micro-invasive solution developed for TLIF and PLIF procedures with a 6 mm starting height.

Engineered to support minimally invasive surgery, VersaLift features one of the smallest starting heights available for a TLIF expandable interbody implant. The system is cleared in 8, 10, and 12 mm widths and offers up to 15° of lordotic correction. Its low-profile design is intended to simplify insertion in patients with restricted anatomy while reducing tissue disruption and limiting nerve retraction.

The implant incorporates controlled in situ expansion that maintains its length during deployment while helping restore natural disc height and promoting indirect neural decompression. In addition, its streamlined instrumentation is designed to help surgeons achieve alignment and procedural goals through a simplified and intuitive workflow.

“VersaLift represents our continued focus on procedural innovation and minimally invasive spine surgery,” said Rich Mueller, Life Spine’s president and CEO. “By combining a 6mm starting height with controlled in-situ expansion, VersaLift provides surgeons with a versatile expandable technology designed to address challenging anatomy while supporting procedural efficiency.”

Stryker, a global medical technology company, has introduced the TPX HD, a premium small bone power tool developed to enhance performance, precision and ergonomics across a variety of complex orthopaedic procedures, including total joint revisions, minimally invasive surgery and oral and maxillofacial procedures.

“Revision procedures are some of the most demanding cases surgeons face, especially when metal cutting is involved,” said Mike Carlin, president of Stryker’s Ortho Tech division. “TPX HD was designed with those moments in mind, when visibility is limited, precision matters and surgeons need a tool they can trust to perform.”

The TPX HD has been engineered with a range of features to improve both functionality and user experience. These include a tapered attachment design to enhance visibility in confined surgical areas, a housing designed to help shield users from motor heat during high-speed operation, along with a shorter handpiece and improved grip to enhance ergonomics*.

Key features of the TPX HD system include:

Up to 296% more torque** and 40% faster performance* than the TPX Micro Drill at high speed, providing increased power and speed.
Customizable drill control through I.D. Touch software integrated with Stryker’s CORE™ 2 Console, enabling surgeons to adjust drill response and sensitivity to their preferences.
A range of specialised attachments, including multiple attachment lengths, a PROStep™ 5:1 reducer, and tools designed for cutting and removing metal and bone cement.
