Life Spine has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its VersaLift expandable interbody system, a micro-invasive solution developed for TLIF and PLIF procedures with a 6 mm starting height.
Engineered to support minimally invasive surgery, VersaLift features one of the smallest starting heights available for a TLIF expandable interbody implant. The system is cleared in 8, 10, and 12 mm widths and offers up to 15° of lordotic correction. Its low-profile design is intended to simplify insertion in patients with restricted anatomy while reducing tissue disruption and limiting nerve retraction.
The implant incorporates controlled in situ expansion that maintains its length during deployment while helping restore natural disc height and promoting indirect neural decompression. In addition, its streamlined instrumentation is designed to help surgeons achieve alignment and procedural goals through a simplified and intuitive workflow.
“VersaLift represents our continued focus on procedural innovation and minimally invasive spine surgery,” said Rich Mueller, Life Spine’s president and CEO. “By combining a 6mm starting height with controlled in-situ expansion, VersaLift provides surgeons with a versatile expandable technology designed to address challenging anatomy while supporting procedural efficiency.”
Earlier this year, in April, the FDA also expanded the indications for Life Spine’s ARx SAI (Sacral Alar Iliac) Spinal Fixation System. The system is now cleared for use with compatible pedicle screws and 5.5 mm or 6 mm posterior rods made from titanium alloys or cobalt chrome, including rods from competing spinal fixation systems.
