Stryker, a global medtech leader headquartered in Michigan, has kicked off 2025 with a major announcement: the acquisition of Inari Medical for an impressive $4.9 billion.
Founded in 2011 and based in California, Inari Medical is renowned for its innovative technologies that enhance outcomes for patients with pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and other serious vascular conditions. With products available in over 30 countries, the company reported estimated revenues of approximately $603 million in 2024.
Stryker highlighted that Inari’s peripheral vascular portfolio aligns seamlessly with its neurovascular offerings, further solidifying its leadership in endovascular health.
“The acquisition of Inari expands Stryker’s portfolio to provide life-saving solutions to patients who suffer from peripheral vascular diseases,” Kevin Lobo, chair and CEO of Stryker, said in a statement. “These innovations elevate the standard of care for venous thromboembolism patients and will accelerate Stryker’s impact in endovascular procedures.”
“Inari has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients through the development of purpose-built tools that address unmet patient needs,” added Drew Hykes, CEO of Inari. “With Stryker’s capabilities and global infrastructure, we will be even better positioned to accelerate the development of innovative new solutions and expand our footprint.”
Both companies’ boards of directors have unanimously approved the transaction, which is anticipated to close in the first quarter of 2025.
This acquisition follows Stryker’s recent focus on mergers and acquisitions. In August 2024, the company announced deals to acquire Vertos Medical and care.ai, though financial terms for those transactions were not disclosed.
